TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS: A Symposium
Stone Lecture Theatre, University of Auckland Law School
Thursday 29 November 6:00pm
(drinks and nibbles from 5:30pm)
In December representatives from many of the largest nations in the Asia-Pacific
region will converge on Auckland for the latest round of negotiations for the
Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).
TPPA is a trade and investment agreement between 12 nations including New
Zealand, Australia, the United States, Canada, Chile and Malaysia. So far it has
largely avoided public discussion and its human rights implications remain
unknown.
Please join HRLA for a symposium focusing on those human rights implications,
positive or negative, and how TPPA’s provisions intersect with the our
fundamental rights. We have representatives and experts from all sides of the
debate, and there will be plenty of time for your questions.
